Reflecting on the journey, Bob Distler shared, “It’s been a long road, but I wouldn’t change a thing. We’ve grown from a small two-bay service station to a full-service auto repair shop, adapting to modern technology and maintaining high standards of service.”

Located at the corner of Cross Street and North Main Street, Distler’s Auto Repair prides itself on a loyal customer base built through word-of-mouth and referrals. “We treat every customer like family,” said shop manager B.J. Berger. “It’s the key to our success.”

Distler’s Automotive Repair Finds Niche in European Market

Situated near Scott Air Force Base in Shiloh, IL, Distler’s Automotive Repair has carved out a specialty in servicing European vehicles. Co-owner B.J. Berger noted, “Our proximity to the base has been a significant driver of our success.”

With a commitment to quality, Distler’s serves as a dealership alternative, ensuring customers are only recommended necessary repairs. The shop is well-equipped with diagnostic tools like the Autologic scan tool and Snap-on Verus Edge to service European, Asian, and domestic vehicles.

B.J. and Kim Berger, who took over ownership in January 2017, have maintained the shop’s family-oriented values and customer-first attitude. “We don’t upsell or push unnecessary repairs. Our focus is on providing quality work that we stand behind,” said B.J. Berger.

Looking to the future, the Bergers hope to expand the current facility. “We have additional property and would love to add more operating bays,” said Kim Berger. The shop currently features five bays and employs three full-time technicians, with their son Tyler working as the service writer.
